Birds, Buds and Bugs

That's what we'll be learning this spring! With all this beautiful weather, I've been inspired to spend as much time outside as possible for the rest of the school year. After Easter, we will begin many nature studies on all my kids favorite things: Birds, Flowers and Bugs.
Our main objectives for each child will be:
Little Miss Chatterbox: Practice handwriting
Mr. Funny: Learn how to read
Mr. Tickle: Learn his alphabet

I'm so excited because I just found some great alphabet books on all three topics on Amazon.
Birds, Buds and Bugs!

We'll spend one week studying one letter, and the corresponding bird, flower and bug that goes with that letter. LM Chatterbox will have copy work to do, I will be looking for more easy reader books that go with our topic for Mr. Funny to read and Mr. Tickle will practice letter recognition.

For art, I have also found some coloring books that the kids will color and there are endless resources on-line for coloring pages too. We will also try to go outside and the older two will do oil pastel drawings of the flowers we find.

I also plan to find ways to do math by having the children help me plant flowers outside. They can count seeds, flower petals, LM Chatterbox and Mr. Funny can help me measure how deep to plant the seeds, etc.

While we're planting flowers, I want to try and plant some vegetables too! That way we can eventually eat the vegetables and the kids can help me prepare our summer dinners which I plan to keep simple and light. The kids love to help in the kitchen and it's true that they are more willing to eat something if they've helped prepare it.

But before we can actual eat the fruit of our labor, we will have picnics outside and I want to try and find some fun snacks that go alone with the letter we are learning.

Isn't Springtime great?

Oh, and I found this great website that teaches you all kinds of great things about gardening with kids. I can't wait to get out in the dirt!

Oh, Boy!

Wow! This is my 100th post! And what great timing because I'm here to tell you about my ultrasound.

It was one of the best ultrasounds I've ever had. Even the technician was having a good time. When we first started, we could see the baby yawn. "Wake up, baby! You have visitors!" I said. Then we watched the baby drink amniotic fluid and the lady commented that this baby's gonna be an eater. I'm hoping that this baby is going to love vegetables. ;) Then we watched as the baby began to punch the air and the lady said, "Oh, the baby is fighting itself!" After that, the baby began to stretch it' s legs out straight. I don't think we saw one moment of stillness. I had so much fun watching. I didn't want it to end. Then the lady asked me if I wanted to know if it was a boy or a girl. I said, "That would be wonderful!" Then she said, "It's a....

GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am SO excited! I couldn't stop smiling! I smiled the whole ride home and I'm still smiling! When I came home, all three kids were napping so I told Mike. He couldn't believe it and he's excited too! He said, "Really? Really?" with a big smile on his face. When Little Miss Chatterbox woke up and we told her, she screamed, "Yes!!!!!!" and she can't stop smiling either! Mr. Tickle doesn't understand and Mr. Funny was sad because he wanted "a Jude" which was the boy name we had picked out. He's still whining to me about wanted a boy but I think he'll warm up to the idea of a baby sister soon enough.
A sweet little baby girl born in summer. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! I knew I saved Little Miss Chatterbox's clothes for a good reason! But it's so fun to buy little girl clothes. So, I think she'll be sporting a lot of new clothes too. ;)
A girl! A girl! I can't believe I'm having a girl. I'm going to be one of those lucky people who has two boys and two girls. So exciting!
So, will she have dark hair and dark eyes like Little Miss Chatterbox?
Or will she be blond with blue eyes like the boys? Any guesses?

Okay, so, I mentioned to you that I thought it was a boy. The only reason why I thought that was because only boy names were coming to me. I should have known better! I'm ALWAYS wrong! I definitely don't have that mothers intuition when it comes to that.

Little Miss Chatterbox just said to me, "Mom, I'm big enough that I can help you take care of her!" They're going to be so cute! I can't believe my girls (girls! Plural!) will be just a few months shy of seven years apart. I think Little Miss Chatterbox will be a great big sister. Okay, gotta go now. Mike's on his way to sign Little Miss Chatterbox up for softball.

*If you look back up at the picture, it is a side view of her whole body. Her face and tummy are on the right and then her legs are stretched out on the left. Her knee is at about the same level as her nose. This was taken during the "show" that she was putting on for us!

Sonogram Coming!

I'm all set up for a sonogram on Wednesday, March 10th at 3:15 and we will finally find out if this little bundle is a boy or a girl!

I have a feeling it's a boy though....more on that later.
