The family and I decided to escape to the beach before summer left us. We had such a good time and it was exactly what we needed. The waves were ferocious so no one spent much time in the ocean.
The main point of this trip was to just relax. So that's what we did. If we weren't on the beach we were in our condo. We had a great view of the ocean from our balcony. Even the bedroom had a balcony with ocean views.
Nothing beats waking up early to watch the sun rise over the ocean. And we could watch it from our bed if we wanted! But we didn't. I made coffee and we watched from our balcony. I told Mike it was like giving birth and waiting for the head to start popping out. Exciting and beautiful.
Little Miss Chatterbox and Mr. Funny played very well together. They spent most of their time playing in the sand and letting the water come up to their feet. A few times the water knocked Mr. Funny down and LMC would rush over to him and pull him up. Mike said he could definitely see some bonding between to two of them.
Mr. Tickle couldn't stand getting sand stuck on his hands.
After the first day, he didn't even want to go down to the beach. So I explained to him that the sand will only stick to his hands if they are wet. He agreed to come down to the beach, but he stayed away from the water and took whatever measures necessary to keep his hands dry. After that, he really enjoyed playing in the sand.
Little Miss Sunshine was easy going, as always. She enjoyed feeling the breeze and watching her siblings run around her. If she was tired she'd take a nap.
But when we were in the condo, she had a very difficult time going to sleep. The first two days she wouldn't sleep unless Mike or I were holding her. She was the same way when we went to the river in August. She can definitely tell we weren't at home and that obviously makes her uncomfortable. But by the third night she went to bed at a normal time. She either finally got use to the place or she was just tired from the first two days!
Mike and I stayed up late every night again (well, I fell asleep early the second night because I was so tired from staying up the night before. No energy drinks this year!) and played cards and talked. It's SO nice having time to ourselves to just talk. We don't get the opportunity very much at home. we had awesome weather considering how late in September it is. And even though we were worried about being there during Bike Week, the Bikers stayed away from the beach so we really didn't see any. We definitely heard them though. :) Our condo had an indoor pool so we also got to swim in there. Wow, that's good exercise. Makes me want to join the local gym and use their indoor pool. As always, we ended our trip with a visit to the Candy Kitchen to get the kids lollipops for the ride home.
All in all, we had a lovely time and made many wonderful memories. Now we are ready (with open arms) for fall to arrive. Our favorite time of year!
Oh my goodness. I don't think I have ever seen a little girl so happy (Malia). She belongs at the beach!!! What great photos. I am so happy you guys made the decision to go.
